Welcome to the development section of www.surfacehq.com. Here you can find tools and resources for developing multitouch applications, learning XNA and c#, and overall preparing for the public SDK for Microsoft Surface until it is released. I will be maintaining the list of rsources and tools here, and if you have something you think should be on the list, please let me know. Enjoy!
- Multi-Touch Vista
Download: MultiTouchVista – second release – refresh 2.zip
This is a great framework for creating multitouch programs on windows vista and windows 7. It supports multiple inputs (as it should), and has a simple tutorial to make one of the photo browsing apps just like you see on Surface all the time. Check out this article for more information.
- Johnny Lee’s Wii Project
Download: All downloads can be easily found at the Project’s HomePage
A slightly different approach at multitouch funcionality is the WiiMote project. Essentially what it does is uses the WiiMote as a camera, and a homemade LED Pointer as the touch input point. It can recognize up to 4 points. There is a lot of fun to be had here, as these WiiMotes are so common.
- Developing on Microsoft Surface
A rich list of links put together at the official Microsoft Surface blog. Everything from learning WPF to object recognition on Surface to different Surface controls. Highly suggested.
- Windows 7 Beta SDK
Start developing for Windows 7 Multi-touch and get a “feel” for how to develop a NUI. Only supported for use on Windows 7.
- Windows 7 Release Candidate Customer Review Program
Download the Release Candidate for Windows 7 at the cost of giving Microsoft some information about your experience.
- Microsoft Surface Partner Quickstart Program
Download: SDK 1.0 Download
The real thing! First become a Microsoft Surface Partner. Then, visit the Quickstart website and you will have complete access to the Microsoft Surface SDK 1.0 and more.
